FAQ Answers:

What exactly does the WEOMS (Wise Energy Online Monitoring System) measure?

In few words: WEOMS measures "true" power energy. That is, the amount of energy the power company charges you for. You can easily view your energy consumption in kW/hour or cost in dollars.

WEOMS monitors the total electricity used at the electric service panel, as well as six individual breakers/connected loads. The individual breakers might be your air coniditioner /heater, water heater, or your washer and dryer, oven, etc. If you have more than six individual breakers, you can easily connect multiple WEOMS to monitor more breakers.

How does the system work?

Essentially, the WEOMS reads the power usage from your electric service panel and sends the data to Wise Energy Online’s servers, where you can view, analyze and monitor your energy use through the Wise Energy Online Dashboard from any internet connected computer.

In more detail: the WEOMS system is installed just outside of the electric service panel. Sensors (CTs) that measure the power use are connected to the WEOMS. The sensor (CT's) are connected to the WEOMS system. A wall transformer plugs into a local outlet, providing the line voltage reference for true power metering for the WEOMS system. The data then gets forwarded in real-time to Wise Energy Online where you can quickly and easily track your energy use through any internet connected computer. Voila!

Does the WEOMS work with all types of electric service panels - what kind of WEM do I need?

Good news - the WEOMS fits all service panels. You just need to know if your panel is single or dual, and if it is 100, 200 or 400 (200/panel) Amps. Many times you can find this information on the electric service panel itself. Or you may need to contact an electrician to help you.

Sneak peek: We're even developing a WEOMS that can monitor three-phase systems - check back soon, or get in touch with us if you are interested in this solution.

How does the WEOMS connect to the Internet?

WEOMS only requires a broadband Internet connection. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods; a network router, an Ethernet cable or go wireless with the Wireless Communication Option.

What if I need more sensors (current transducers)?

No worries. Optional Current Transducers (CT's) can be purchased. We carry a variety of sizes:

  • Split 100, 200
  • Micro 40, 80, 100

How do I install the WEOMS?

While the installation is very simple, it requires placing current transformers inside the electric service panel, which is something only trained professionals should do.

Your qualified technician will follow local safety codes, use proper safety practices and equipment, and ensure that the WEOMS is not installed inside a live electric service panel but outside the electric service panel.
